The improvement of hardware tech may be fast, but most people are not streamers getting their PC parts from sponsors and making 5$ every 10 minutes from donations. It's not going from Diablo 2 to Crysis 1, which is 8 years of difference by the way. CA is doing it regardless but on the "decade worth of difference" level you expect from them. That's a lot work (read: money and time).

Sure you could improve it beyond the last known best looking Total War game, and sure enough you'd lose a lot potential buyers AND create yourself a brutal, immense amount of additional work to improve not one but two additional entire games to the standards of the new one. Those who were able to run TWW1 and 2 well or just fine or just barely, rightfully expect the same performance on the same PC from TWW3, because was always supposed to be a unique trilogy of games that combine into each other.

Not to mention CA wouldn't need to worry about campaign balance of various factions across 2 maps, since Warhammer 3's own campaign map would (hopefully will) look exactly the same as it's Mortal Empires copy. What will it be, an extra 8-10 seconds at most with the current engine? If AI turn times end up overall 20-30 seconds longer I'll gladly accept that for the extra gameplay space and the overcrowded areas (hi Lustria and Southlands. Now, considering how extremely fast the AI turn goes by these days (and can be drastically further reduced btw by using certain camera settings, such as disabling camera tracking of all heroes, or neutral factions, speed up allied faction animations to very fast, enemies to simply fast), I think I could take an additional 5 seconds that the extra "added" factions that were cut, would add.ĪI turn are about to increase with adding Warhammer 3 to Mortal Empires anyway. And by change I mean Warhammer 3 Mortal Empires should use the complete and preserved as is map of Warhammer 2 and 3, just like Mortal Empires 1 uses the complete and preserved unchanged map of Warhammer 1.
